Poem recording
Creating Foley
To record the poem itself, I recorded my dad in the studio. This is a good recording environment as it is a dead room allowing for little to no reverberation due to the padding lining the walls and ceilings. The software I recorded it into was pro-tools, allowing me to cut the poem up before exporting it as a WAV file for the highest quality.
Edited sound
In the control room, I set up the iMac with Audacity to intake the audio. My Foley artist sat in the dead room where I could communicate though a microphone to his headphones while we recorded each sound. For all of my Foley recordings, I decided to not put on effects through the mixing board as it allowed me to do all of that later in post production where I could sit and dedicate more time to get the the needed sound.
